News release | Dec. 4, 2023

Financial services firm joins 545 U.S. businesses that received top marks in the HRC Foundation’s 21st annual scorecard on LGBTQ+ workplace equality

St. Louis, Dec. 4, 2023 – Financial services firm Edward Jones scored 100% on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2023 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation’s foremost benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality. The ranking designates Edward Jones as one of the Best Places to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality among 545 U.S. businesses also receiving the recognition.

"Our colleagues are our greatest asset in serving our clients. Our overarching goal is to be a place where every colleague feels valued, respected, seen, and heard," said Jennifer Kingston, Edward Jones Head of Enterprise Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. "We live every day guided by our purpose — to make a positive impact in the lives of our clients and colleagues and for our communities. Receiving a perfect score on the Corporate Equality Index validates the meaningful difference we are making for our LGBTQ+ clients and colleagues."

The CEI rates companies on detailed criteria under four central pillars identified by the HRC Foundation as best practices that improve the experiences of LGBTQ+ employees:

  • Workplace protections
  • Inclusive benefits
  • Supporting an inclusive culture
  • Corporate social responsibility

Edward Jones’ efforts in meeting all of the CEI’s criteria earned the firm a 100% rating and the designation as one of the Best Places to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality.

The firm's 1000-plus strong LGBTQ+ and Allies Business Resource Group regularly meets to cultivate relationships, generate ideas and develop strategies to build and maintain an inclusive workforce.

The 2023 index includes 1,384 U.S. companies, up from only 13 in its inaugural year — demonstrating the impact the CEI has had on the business world over the past 21 years. Companies rated in the 2023 CEI include Fortune magazine’s 500 largest publicly traded businesses, American Lawyer magazine’s top 200 revenue-grossing law firms (AmLaw 200) and hundreds of publicly and privately held mid- to large-sized businesses.
