My previous career was managing multi-million dollar retail stores. The culture I promoted was for all associates, including myself, to establish relationships with community members and organizations, both as a business and a resource in times of need. I joined other associates and pitched in to provide flood and storm relief and repair, hosted Red Cross Blood Drives, and provided financial, material and hands on support of the Wounded Warriors Project as well as local support of non-profits and organizations. I’ve always found purpose in being a servant leader able to help people solve complex problems and being a mentor to educate others to develop critical thinking skills to problem solve themselves. Investing in the growth of others has been a driving force in my career.

The decision to transition careers was clear - I wanted to not only take control of my life professionally and financially; I wanted to work in a business sector that provided the freedom to plan and execute goals that are important to me and to help others do the same. Becoming a financial advisor meets that objective and has been one of the most important and rewarding decisions in my life. Having always been a savvy investor personally, doing so as a career while growing others’ assets to meet their goals was a no-brainer.

During my transition, I had lost some close family members; that experience, coupled with the fact that all three of my children were serving in the military, gave clarity of how precious life and planning for the future is. I understand the dual importance of preparing for the future by working hard and serving others while still planning to enjoy the reward that results from that preparation. Partnering with Edward Jones as the catalyst for a career in financial advising was clearly parallel to my personal ethic: a company that puts the focus on the client. Edward Jones also provides world-class support to both clients and their advisors.
