I grew up in the Midwest and worked my way through college working on the loading docks in the stockyards. This experience helped to mold my work ethic and taught me an appreciation for every dollar earned or spent. I coached one year of college football and then began a career with Hallmark Cards, where I managed in the distribution, information technology and finance divisions.
I was recruited to San Diego to manage a chain of Hallmark Card shops and eventually discovered the Edward Jones opportunity. As a young manager at Hallmark, I had met a wise veteran who had "financial confidence" because he had saved and invested so effectively that continuing to work for the corporation was optional for him. I decided I wanted to become that person and now, at Edward Jones, I get to help others accomplish that goal as well.
I find real meaning in my work at Edward Jones. I am honored to work with multigenerational families as an important part of their professional team while they navigate various stages of their financial life, like saving for college, purchasing a home, preparing for retirement, protecting against significant life events and ensuring their financial legacy.
I am also fortunate to have a terrific team in place to serve our clients. Indy Thornhill has been with us since 2013 and is a Senior Branch Office Administrator, and Katherine Burgess joined us in 2020. Both of them are amazing workers who care about our clients as much as I do, and we hear compliments all the time about their personalized, efficient service.
My wife, Sandi, and I have raised four children who are all married, and we now have five grandchildren as well. In addition to our family responsibilities, we have the privilege of serving military and first responders recovering from PTSD, those who are fighting their way out of addiction through Celebrate Recovery, the Alzheimer's Association and in our church.
I have a passion for music and songwriting and play in a band called One Day Closer. Sandi and I are also avid hikers and love spending time outdoors.
