In 2004, I found myself as a single mom not only in need of a job, but in search of a career. I loved art and creating, so it was somewhat surprising when I soon found myself employed as an assistant to a financial advisor with Edward Jones. I relied on her to help guide me through this difficult transition in my life. The choices I made at that time have been lifechanging in a positive way, not only for myself, but for my entire family.
Working alongside her, I saw what an impact we made in our client's lives. We guided people to reach their goals of retirement, send their children to college and pass wealth from one generation to another. Being a part of this experience inspired me to follow in her footsteps.
During the recession of 2008-09, as the assistant, I was the one answering the phone to many who felt lost, frustrated and scared to see their life savings decline in value. But as an assistant, there was only so much I could do to help them. I wanted to do more! So, it was at that time that I felt compelled to become a financial advisor, and in 2010, I did just that.
My passion for helping others achieve their goals is at the heart of my practice at Edward Jones. Being able to celebrate successes as well as hold a client’s hand during challenging times is the most rewarding part of our practice. Listening to your story and hearing about what is important to you is the cornerstone of how I collaborate with my clients.
Investing is a marathon, not a sprint. As an active distance runner who loves to compete, I find parallels between investing and running a race. Over the course of a race, there are times when energy ebbs, one's mind gets distracted and the finish line feels so far away. One relies on the encouragement of the crowd or a coach to give positive feedback to re-energize and re-focus you in your race. I am honored to be that coach to help advise, educate and encourage my clients along their financial journey.
