Growing up in a small, blue-collar community, I understood that my parents worked hard for everything we had. I also saw the impact my mother had as a nurse and caregiver. I knew I wanted to follow in their footsteps, working hard to change people’s lives for the better. I started as a pharmacist, but quickly realized I was doing what was best for my employers, not my patients. It took nearly a year of soul searching, but I realized that I needed a career that would allow me to pursue my own vision of how to truly help and make a difference in my community. I married my understanding of health, passion for service and knowledge of finance to become an Edward Jones financial advisor in 2017. In this role, I’m not working with people to improve their finances – I’m working with them to improve their lives.
I’m not exaggerating when I say my clients become like family to me. I take great pride in being a supportive partner to my clients, whether we’re conquering their fears, celebrating their successes or grieving their losses. It’s my job to keep things in perspective and help them avoid common mistakes like emotional investing. I believe the best way to do this is by breaking down our strategy into understandable terms, allocating different funds for different goals and constantly monitoring our progress.
My Durham office serves investors from across North Carolina as well as West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio. I hold an AAMS® professional designation, am Sigma 6 and Lean certified and have an MBA and a doctorate in pharmacy.
Outside of the office, I love staying active doing home improvements, playing basketball, cooking and spending time with my Wheaten Terriers, Noah and Simba. I’m also incredibly passionate about giving back to my community through service with Durham Rotary, where I serve as Polio Committee chair; Summit Church Stewardship Committee; The Carying Place; The Animal Sanctuary and Citizens Climate Lobby.
