Edward Jones Launches Education Savings and Career Readiness Programs for Texas students

News release | Dec. 05, 2025

Some students at Sam Houston High School in Arlington, Texas will jump start their education savings with up to $15,000 each as part of an innovative pilot program; Edward Jones financial advisors will offer career coaching for Big 12 Conference student athletes

St. Louis, Mo., Dec. 5, 2025 – Edward Jones is investing in Texas students’ futures by expanding access to education, helping to strengthen financial capability, and helping to create pathways with the goal of lasting career success through two transformative programs.

New program gives students a pathway to save for future education

Select high school juniors at Sam Houston High School in Arlington, TX will have the opportunity to unlock up to $15,000 for their 529 account thanks to a new program offered by Edward Jones, in collaboration with Everfi.

The Financial Futures Education Savings Program (FFESP) will provide various financial education and career readiness learning activities for these students, which altogether will represent a $450,000 investment.

Students participating were identified by high school officials and are part of the school's P-TECH program which allows students to begin taking college level classes while still in high school. To qualify, they will be required to complete educational activities like book assignments and reflections, career workshops, and financial literacy seminars hosted by Edward Jones. Offerings through Everfi digital financial education will also be available.

"Financial education has the greatest impact when it is paired with real assets," said David Clunie, Principal and Head of Community Impact at Edward Jones. "Edward Jones created this program because we recognize that student loan debt can discourage students from pursuing college, technical schools, or apprenticeships. Access to higher education can be life-changing, so we are proud to help provide more students with the resources necessary to achieve their education goals."

Local Edward Jones Financial Advisors Jason Roach, Adrian Delgadillo and Ben Cubbage will be assisting students and their families  throughout the year  to provide financial education. .

The FFESP pilot program will run for one year, with the intent to continue beyond that based on student participation and engagement.

Opportunities to explore new career paths in partnership with the Big 12 Conference

This pilot program launches alongside the announcement of Edward Jones’ title sponsorship of the Big 12 Championship game, underscoring the firm’s investment in the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area and its commitment to help build healthier financial futures.

The Big 12 Career Fair will bring together student athletes from all 16 conference schools for an exclusive opportunity to network with top employers and explore career paths including finance and other related fields.

The event will take place on Dec. 5 in Dallas, ahead of the Big 12 Championship football game and is designed to help students prepare for life after graduation. Attendees can attend panel discussions featuring professionals from a variety of industries who will offer career advice and answer questions about their field.

Joining the event are Dallas-area Edward Jones financial advisors Matthew Taylor, Tamara Warfield, and Zach Walker who will share their experience on building a successful career in financial services and offer practical advice on financial education and career planning.

"This engagement reflects Edward Jones' core purpose: to make a meaningful difference in the lives of clients and communities by providing essential financial education and opening doors to future possibilities," says Tamara Warfield, Financial Advisor at Edward Jones. "By empowering these student athletes with financial education and career guidance, we can help them translate their discipline and drive from the field into successful, financially secure futures."
