I grew up in a very underserved part of Houston, Texas in a housing project near the 5th Ward. My socialization reflected the community in which I was born. I was raised by a single parent and was in search of purpose. There had to be something outside of the four walls in which I functioned. There had to be more to life. I was on a path to nowhere. But that all changed when I was about 11 years old.
One of the worst storms that Houston had ever witnessed was tearing through my city. As I watched news report after news report, helpless people were stranded due to flash flooding. Tractor trailers were bobbing around like giant fishing lures beneath underpasses. In that moment, I panicked. I quickly gathered school supplies and created a sign warning people the bridge was out. Then I darted out of the back door to a 21ft underpass not two blocks from our place. I held the sign up in the rain for two hours. One by one, cars would flash their lights at me and then turn away from danger. I've been helping people ever since.
Today, I reside in Richardson, Texas with my wife, Brittany. We have two kids and one on the way. My 5-year-old daughter attends Pre-K at Trinity Christian Academy. Fun fact: my wife played varsity women's basketball for Southern Methodist University, has two conference championship rings and was featured on a SMU promo poster.
As an Edward Jones financial advisor, I believe it’s important to invest my time to understand what you’re working toward before you invest your money. I believe in the power of relationship and prefer a homecooked meal over a conference room. My family and I would love to have you over. I guide my clients with education, tools and advice. I help clients feel empowered. I can make sense of today's global and political headlines while helping educate you on common investing pitfalls one client at a time. I've been in financial services for 10 years. I am a licensed financial advisor with Edward Jones. What's your story?
