My professional background is quite different than many of my industry peers, and I believe it provides me a profound advantage in my role as financial advisor. Before starting with Edward Jones in 2008, I worked for 14 years as a high school teacher and coach; it was rewarding, meaningful work which I enjoyed very much — it is deeply satisfying when you know you're making a positive difference in the lives of other people. That feeling is exactly what attracted me to becoming a financial advisor with Edward Jones: It's incredibly gratifying to think that the careful recommendations I'm making every day to my clients can help them create a brighter financial future for themselves and for their families. I take my role as a financial advisor seriously, and each of my clients knows my long-term commitment to keeping them on track on the road to achieving their financial goals.
My typical clients are serious investors who are looking to partner with someone who can provide them thoughtful advice on how to get them where they want to be financially in the future. Some areas of discussion include planning for retirement, educational funding, managing an inheritance, estate transfers or leaving a legacy. I believe in the importance of being a good listener, so my process begins with me carefully listening to what each of my clients has to say, so I can better understand their unique financial needs. From there I can begin to implement tailored solutions designed to help them achieve their long-term financial goals.
On a personal note, my wife, Casey, and I have been together since 1992, and are blessed to have two terrific children: daughter Elisabeth, and son Hunter. My role as father is very important to me; each day I try to instill in my children my beliefs that all people deserve to be treated with kindness and respect, and that with good choices and hard work, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.
