After my dad passed away, my mom had to quickly figure out how to provide for her two small children. My dad had earned a good living, and my mom is a smart, organized, savvy woman. They’d even gone to a financial planner together, but it just couldn’t cover all of life’s curveballs. My mom struggled to keep us afloat in Southern California as a young widow. The choices she (and we) had to make were hard on our family relationships.
Watching my mom navigate it all on her own, I dreaded adding to her burden and avoided it whenever possible. When it was time to apply to colleges, I couldn’t bring myself to ask her for application money. Cobbling together the funds to pay for my own schooling out of pocket (and avoid debt) cemented my passion for creative financial strategies.
My clients are intelligent, hard-working people who can benefit from a financial coach. Together, we define a strategy that puts your priorities and values front and center. Most often, you are within 15 years of retirement and are seeking a plan; a way to make all the different pieces of your financial life fit together for a comfortable retirement you can enjoy with confidence. We prepare for the unexpected together. We do all this while considering tax and estate implications, and involving those professionals in the process.
My practice is supported by my wonderful Branch Office Administrator (and the friendly voice you’ll hear when you call the office), Melba Dolphin. You and I will regularly discuss asset strategies, wealth protection and your legacy, and Melba and I work together to make sure things get done. This creates a disciplined approach to investing and a robust way to stay on top of the different aspects of your financial life.
You can think of us as your family’s financial partner: You bring your goals and dreams, we’ll bring organization and accountability.
I live with my husband and two kids in Ivey Ranch and love to frequent locally-owned businesses, hang out with neighbors and cheer with abandon at my kids’ sports games. I’m passionate about developing girls' abilities in STEM and the outdoors as well as their leadership skills, which I do as a Girl Scout Leader and Service Unit Manager. In any spare time I can find, I’m usually volunteering in my kids’ classrooms or in the community.
