"Is it on sale, Mom?" One of my earliest lessons on money was that we did our shopping based on what was on sale. Another early lesson was that one tenth of my allowance (a nickel out of my two quarters) was to go into the Sunday School offering plate each week. What I really wanted was to be buying 50-cent packs of baseball cards, but instead I was learning about patience and priorities one nickel at a time.
Thankfully, my budget has increased a bit over my fifty cents a week, but the deeply rooted lesson still resonates – Live Life on Purpose. I'm grateful my parents taught me to be a responsible, purposeful steward of my resources and that money is not the goal, but a tool to be used. And that's my goal at Edward Jones: to partner with my clients to simplify and organize their financial lives as a tool to live life on purpose.
I came to RVA from Carthage, NY to attend the University of Richmond and I've invested my entire adult life here, along with my wife, Stacy, our son, Liam, and our cats, Walker, Texas, and Ranger. After earning a BA in economics at U of R (Go Spiders!) and a Master of Accountancy at VCU (Go Rams!), I pursued a career in supply chain management for over a decade. Throughout my various roles, common themes emerged: problem solving, simplifying and organizing systems and processes, and listening to understand goals in order to create strategies to achieve them.
Now, as a financial advisor with Edward Jones, I use these same skills to work with clients to identify goals, passions and dreams. This starts with a conversation where my job is to listen and learn so that we can work together to achieve your goals and help you stay on track.
Whether you learned solid financial foundations from your parents or you're looking to learn them now, I'm excited to partner with clients who want their finances to support their lives rather than vice versa. Give me a call or send me an email – I'm looking forward to you living your best life, on purpose.
