I am an optimist. As far as I can tell, it is the only rational way to approach the world we live in. As a financial advisor, I get to see greatness in people all the time, and I believe investing should be about seeking opportunities to tap into the creative and productive capacities of people in our country and around the world.

Please remember that I said that optimism is a rational approach, not an emotional approach. If you are someone who wishes to make sound financial decisions, then I submit that one of the most important decisions you can make is to always respect your emotions, while letting reason help you form a strategy.

One of the best parts of being a financial advisor is that I get to know my clients' stories, and seeing how people overcome adversity to accomplish their goals is a powerful lesson to me. My job is to learn what matters to you, help you make your strategy for your money reflect that and then remind you why we did what we did when we have those inevitable moments where our emotions make us question our better judgement.

I have been with Edward Jones for 19 years. Prior to that, I served in the Marine Corps, and after my service, I worked as a civil engineer. I am a Colorado native, and I love it here, even if it sometimes feels a lot busier in town than I remember. I am on the board at my children's school and I help coach high school basketball there as well.

For several years, I have also been part of a team that travels to Haiti and conducts mobile medical clinics. Those trips are a powerful reminder to me both of how good we have it here, and also how critical a role optimism plays in our lives, even in the most difficult of circumstances.

I would love the chance to meet you and hear your story. When you call the office, you will likely speak to Julie Highsmith, my Branch Office Administrator. Julie most recently worked as a bookkeeper in a general practice law firm. She has three kids (two in college, one in a master's program) and, like many of you, assists her elder family members as needed. She loves to get outside, travel and spend time with family and friends.

In addition, Lorie Scherschligt is a veteran Branch Office Administrator who works at the office two days a week.

They're both fantastic and are important partners in the branch and invaluable to me and my clients.
