I do what I do because someone did it for my parents.
You see, I was fortunate enough to have parents who, while hoping for the best, were also pragmatic enough to plan for the worst. When "the worst" happened – my father dying unexpectedly at 41 – all the careful planning my parents had done provided our family with the security of keeping our home and our lifestyle. The reason that planning was in place was because a financial advisor once reached out to a young, professional couple and helped them make sure they were on the right track. With that history in mind, it came as no real surprise to anyone when I decided to use my education and skills to bring financial advising to others – especially women and happy couples.
One of the things I enjoy most about being a financial advisor is the puzzle-solving. I love sitting down with people to dig into what's important to them, using an established process to help them set financial goals that support their priorities and then creating a personalized strategy to meet those goals. But it doesn't end there! My clients know that we're partnered up for the long-haul, so that I can help them stay on track until they've realized their goals – or perhaps refine those goals as life continues to happen.
But why did I choose Edward Jones in the first place? That comes down to family, too. I originally came to work here in 2008 because I was looking for a job that would let me match schedules with my spouse. I've stayed because employees are treated like family; the firm cares about us, respects us and values our diverse and individual contributions. That feeling of family is extended to our clients as well; we as a firm believe in the importance of personal relationships, human-centered advice and always putting the client's needs first.
When I'm not helping people do right by their future selves, I enjoy reading, writing, sport climbing and getting outdoors with my family in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. You can also find me regularly volunteering with Evergreen Habitat for Humanity or playing a good tabletop RPG with friends on those rare occasions we can get everyone's schedules aligned!
