I was working at a job that offered a 401(k) plan, and was really becoming focused on saving for retirement, as I was in my early 30s, married with young children and hadn't really started yet. I'd read all the books, understood the concepts of investing, but really didn't how to formulate a plan. A work colleague suggested I talk to his Edward Jones financial advisor. That day quite literally changed my life. I joined the firm in 1997 and opened a branch in Monroe, WA. I finally had the opportunity to do what I loved – helping people prepare for a comfortable retirement.
As a branch team, we create a comprehensive strategy to help achieve a client's goals. At Edward Jones, we put an emphasis on preparing for and living in retirement, paying for education, preparing for the unexpected and estate strategies. We take the time to understand what's important to you, then use an established process to help you build personalized strategies to reach your goals.
What I love about running my Edward Jones branch is the opportunity to be involved in my community. In addition to the services that we provide, I've also been able to serve in many community service organizations, youth sports and leadership roles, including:
- President of the Washington State School Directors Association
- Past President of the Duvall Chamber of Commerce
- Past President of the Rotary Club of Duvall
- 15 years on the Riverview School District Board of Directors
I hold the ChFC®, CLU® and AAMS™ professional designations. I've lived in Duvall since 1993. My family and I enjoy traveling, local youth sports and cheering on the Seahawks and the Mariners.
Senior Branch Office Administrator Shelly Paradis has been with Edward Jones since 2008, and has been with my branch since 2012. She is extremely knowledgeable in the administrative role of our practice and is integral to our success in exceeding client expectations.
