Growing up as the third of four daughters, I found that life isn't always the way we think it should be. I was the first to go to college, the first to get married, the first to have children, the first to get a divorce, the first to move away and the first to move back home. I have learned a lot of things in my life. The most valuable lesson above all is that loving my faith, my family and my career will always be important to me.
After having three kids serve in the Iraq war, I learned to have a soft spot in my heart for veterans. I volunteer with VetsRoll by taking veterans to Washington, D.C. Each year, veterans are given the respect, closure and gratitude they deserve. I also host a Never Forget 9/11 Memorial event each Sept. 11 to honor those who died that tragic day in our history. We also say thank you to first responders, fire fighters, police officers and all those who served as a result of Sept. 11.
My husband, Tim, and I have lived in the South Beloit area since 2005. We have four children: John, Kari Jo, Daniel and Matt. We are extremely blessed to be the grandparents of Aliyah, Elliana, Jacob and Harvey.
