State awards and rankings disclosures
The rankings are based on an employer inventory of practices and an anonymous survey of employees, who were asked to agree or disagree with dozens of statements about the firm, teamwork and their individual experiences.
Alabama

Business Alabama Magazine teamed up with the Best Companies Group of Harrisburg, Pa., to rank the state’s top 21 employers. Companies named Best Companies to Work For in Alabama for 2021 were divided into 14 small/medium companies and seven large companies by the number of people they employ in Alabama.
Arizona

The Arizona Republic teamed up with research partner Energage of Exton, Pa., to rank the state's top 110 employers. Companies named Top Workplaces in Arizona for 2021 were divided into 13 large, 23 midsize and 74 small companies by the number of people they employ in Arizona.
California
Orange County - No. 30
The Orange County Register teamed up with research partner Energage of Exton, Pa., to rank the region's top 55 employers. Companies named Top Workplaces in Orange County for 2020 were divided into 10 large companies, 45 midsize companies and 50 small-sized companies by the number of people they employ in San Diego.
San Diego – No. 13
The San Diego Union-Tribune teamed up with research partner Energage of Exton, Pa., to rank the region's top 70 employers. Companies named Top Workplaces in San Diego for 2020 were divided into 8 large companies, 25 midsize companies and 37 small-sized companies by the number of people they employ in San Diego.
Colorado

The Denver Post teamed up with research partner Energage of Exton, Pa., to rank the state's top 150 employers. Companies named Top Workplaces in Colorado for 2021 were divided into 27 large, 55 midsize and 68 small companies by the number of people they employ in Colorado.

The Hartford Business Journal teamed up with the Best Companies Group of Harrisburg, Pa., to rank the state's top 31 employers. Companies named Best Places to Work in Connecticut for 2021 were divided into 13 large companies and 18 small or medium companies by the number of people they employ in Connecticut.

FloridaTrend teamed up with the Best Companies Group of Harrisburg, Pa., to rank the state’s top 100 employers. Companies named Best Companies to Work for in Florida for 2021 were divided into 38 small companies, 35 medium companies and 27 large companies by the number of people they employ in Florida.
Georgia
Atlanta – No. 23
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution teamed up with research partner Energage to rank the area’s top 175 employers. Companies named Atlanta Top Workplaces for 2021 were divided into 19 large companies, 70 medium companies and 86 small-sized companies by the number of people they employ in the Atlanta area.
Hawaii
No. 1
Hawaii Business Magazine teamed up with the Best Companies Group of Harrisburg, Pa., to rank the state’s top 74 employers. Companies named Best Places to Work in Hawaii for 2021 were divided into 16 large companies, 29 medium, and 29 small-sized companies by the number of people they employ in Hawaii. Only companies in the top three of each category were assigned a numerical ranking.

The Chicago Tribune teamed up with research partner Energage to rank the area’s top 140 employers. Companies named Chicago's Top Workplaces for 2020 were divided into 23 large companies, 46 midsize companies and 71 small companies by the number of people they employ in the Chicago area.

BizVoice teamed up with the Best Companies Group of Harrisburg, Pa., to rank the state’s top 125 employers. Companies named Best Places to Work in Indiana for 2021 were divided into 59 small companies, 38 medium companies, 15 large companies and 13 major companies, by the number of people they employ in Indiana.

The Des Moines Register teamed up with research partner Energage to rank the state’s top 116 employers. Companies named Iowa's Top Workplaces for 2020 were divided into 18 large companies, 35 mid-size companies and 63 small-sized companies by the number of people they employ in Iowa.

The Kentucky Chamber of Commerce teamed up with the Best Companies Group of Harrisburg, Pa., to rank the state’s top 100 employers. Companies named Best Workplaces in Kentucky for 2021 were divided into 30 large companies, 30 medium companies and 40 small companies by the number of people they employ in Kentucky.

Mainebiz Magazine teamed up with the Best Companies Group of Harrisburg, Pa., to rank the state’s top 84 employers. Companies named Best Workplaces in Maine for 2020 were divided into 26 small companies, 39 medium companies and 19 large companies by the number of people they employ in Maine.

The Detroit Free Press teamed up with research partner Energage to rank the state’s top 185 employers. Companies named Michigan's Top Workplaces for 2020 were divided into 65 large companies, 55 midsize companies and 65 small companies by the number of people they employ in Michigan.

The Star Tribune teamed up with research partner Energage of Exton, Pa., to rank the state's top 175 employers. Companies named Top Workplaces in Minnesota for 2021 were divided into 40 large, 60 midsize and 75 small companies by the number of people they employ in Minnesota.
Missouri
Kansas City – No. 3
The Kansas City Business Journal teamed up with Quantum Market Research to rank Kansas City-area companies on their best practices. The "Best Places to Work" in Kansas City ranking is employee-driven, with the scoring based on how associates respond to an anonymous survey designed to measure the quality of workplace culture. For the two consecutive years of participation, Edward Jones has ranked in the top three.
St. Louis – No. 6
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch teamed up with research partner Energage to rank the area’s top 151employers. Companies named St. Louis' Top Workplaces for 2021 were divided into 15 large companies, 60 medium companies and 76 small-sized companies by the number of people they employ in the Greater St. Louis area.
New Jersey

NJBiz teamed up with the Best Companies Group of Harrisburg, Pa., to rank the state’s top 120 employers. Companies named Best Places to Work in New Jersey for 2020 were divided into 40 large companies and 48 medium and 32 small-sized companies by the number of people they employ in New Jersey.

The Albuquerque Journal teamed up with research partner Energage of Exton, Pa., to rank the state’s top 55 employers. Companies were named Top Workplaces in New Mexico were divided into seven large companies, 15 medium companies and 33 small-sized companies by the number of people they employ in New Mexico.

The New York State Society for Human Resource Management teamed up with the Best Companies Group of Harrisburg, Pa., to rank the state’s top 72 employers. Companies named Best Companies to Work for in New York for 2021 were divided into 24 large companies, 17 medium companies and 24 small-sized companies by the number of people they employ in New York.

Companies named Best Places to Work in the Triangle for 2020 were divided into 10 extra-large companies, 15 large companies, 15 medium companies and 10 small-sized companies by the number of people they employ in the Triangle region.

Crain's Cleveland Business teamed up with the Best Companies group of Harrisburg, Pa., to rank the state's top 42 employers. Companies were named Best Employers in Ohio for 2021, divided into 20 large companies and 22 medium- and small-sized companies by the number of people they employ in Ohio.
