My parents were whip smart. Yet, it was their steadfastness, purpose and preparedness that would save my family.

It all started with three Peter Pan peanut butter jars. While growing up, my parents instructed us to divide our chores’ allowances and gifts. Jar 1 was for 10% Tithe; Jar 2 was for 10% Savings; and Jar 3 was for bills and spending. The brilliance was in the habit. My parents bowed not to the tyranny of the urgent. Nor, did they bother to keep up with the proverbial Jones family.

I idolized my brother. On New Year’s Eve, Bobby’s freshman year, he became a full quadriplegic from a gym accident. Bobby was supposed to die. His lungs were paralyzed. There is no one waiting to make your life easier when tragedy strikes. Bobby's care was expensive. He could do nothing for himself. My parents barely missed a beat. Financial order made it livable.

From 18, I begin putting a strategy together. I needed to be ready to take care of my brother and/or parents. In college, I studied economics, history and political science. I assumed I would be heading to law school. Instead, my college internships led me to a tax law and estate planning firm. I was enthralled by the value added by these experts. Tax and estate planning is critical. Therefore, I will work closely with you and your CPA, attorney and other professionals, to determine the most appropriate financial strategy for you and your family. Wealth creation and preservation is incumbent to a financial advisor. Spoiler alert -- investments create that need. After college, helping my father with wealth creation cemented my lifelong passion of pay back with wealth creation.

For me, this paying it forward continues as a daily joy to share knowledge for helping to create wealth. I never forget what it means to be on the other side of the table. Investing is a matter of process, framed by competency and trust. You need understanding for investing and risk management. I take my client partnerships very seriously.
