David R Lawson

I grew up in Southeastern New Mexico, the youngest of three siblings. My parents were hard working people that believed in giving a day's work for a day's pay, speaking truth and being honorable in all things and with all people. I served four years in the US Army Artillery. After the military, I attended New Mexico Junior College and almost finished my degree at College of the SouthWest, a two year senior college in New Mexico. I have always worked in jobs where I can help people have a better life.

I married my wife, Sheila, in August 2004 and we have a blended family of five children, ranging in age from 34 to 44 years old.

I have been involved with the Marlin Lions Club since I moved to Marlin in 1999. The Lions have a passion for serving others and have the Texas Lions camp for children with physical disabilities to help them realize their dreams if they are willing to try. I have been involved in the Allen House and the Palace Theatre in Marlin.

I believe in helping others. My parents did not have much when they retired. They lived on a small pension and Social Security. I knew there had to be a better way to retire. I want to help people retire with dignity.

Edward Jones has given me that opportunity. I have been working for Edward Jones for better than 21 years and have a passion to help my clients realize their dreams by investing over time. I learn what is most important to my clients and work toward those goals in partnership. I find my best clients are people who are willing to listen and learn in order to make better decisions for their retirement. I help my clients understand that retirement and investing is a process, not a get rich quick scheme. I believe I have helped a number of families realize their dreams and look forward to working with others to help realize theirs as well.
