When people ask me why I do what I do, they are a bit shocked when I say "the unexpected death of my dad." My dad passed away when he was 50. He had just retired from the State of NC after 28 years of service and was just two days shy of attending my wedding. In an instant, my life changed.
What do I do now? What are my responsibilities? Where do I even start? It was overwhelming and I was scared, but it needed to be taken care of. What choice did I have? Just as my dad would have expected, I handled it. It was long and hard, but I asked lots of questions and found the right people to help me navigate a situation I had no business being in at such a young age.
The result? Perspective.
Situations like this can cause chaos, both personally and financially. Going through it helps me better understand what it takes to make it through to the other side. I am here to help during the good times and when life seems to be tossing lemons in your direction.
Born and raised in the area, I attended Freedom High School and then moved on to obtain degrees from East Carolina University, Western Carolina University and Duke University. After college, I spent 14 years working in non-profit financial management, from implementing and managing numerous grant programs to fund development at Carolinas HealthCare System Blue Ridge. This experience has given me the tools to better understand financial management and how it effects each person differently.
Outside of my work, I enjoy hiking, biking, running (although I am not sure I really enjoy it), camping and spending time with my family, friends and my two dogs.
With Edward Jones, I am able to utilize skills and knowledge from my previous work and personal experiences to provide each of my clients with the best possible solutions tailored to their individual needs.
