Principal, Investment Strategist


Kate Warne, Ph.D., CFA, joined the Edward Jones Research department in 1997. She became a principal with the firm in 2000 and a member of the Investment Policy Committee in 2003.

Warne is the firm’s investment strategist, primarily serving U.S investors. She interprets market conditions and recommends appropriate investment strategies to aid clients in reaching their long-term financial goals.

Warne holds a doctorate in economics, specializing in finance and competitive strategy, from Yale University, a master of science from the London School of Economics and a bachelor’s degree with high honors from Swarthmore College. She earned her Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1997.

Warne has appeared on CBS, CNBC, CNN, BBC and Bloomberg and has been quoted regularly in such major publications as The Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, USA Today, the Financial Times, Forbes and Fortune. She was invited to participate in 2016 Outlook Panels for USA Today and Fortune.

Warne was the energy analyst at Edward Jones prior to assuming her current position as investment strategist. She has worked for AT&T and General Motors, and was an assistant professor of finance at the John M. Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis. Warne previously lectured at Yale University and was an economist at the President’s Council of Economic Advisors.
