David Gunn is the country leader for Edward Jones Canada, the subsidiary of the U.S.-based Fortune 500 financial services firm Edward Jones. As country leader, David is responsible for the more than 2,300 advisors, branch office administrators and home-office associates who partner with individual investors to develop and follow strategies tailored to their specific needs and goals.
He also leads and drives initiatives to further the Edward Jones vision of becoming the first choice of serious, long-term individual investors as a member of the Edward Jones Management Committee.
David began his Edward Jones career in 2000 as an advisor in Calgary, Alberta. He quickly proved to be an outstanding advisor and qualified for several Managing Partner’s Conferences, the annual event that recognizes the firm’s top advisors.
In 2008, David was named an Edward Jones principal and relocated to the firm’s Mississauga campus in Toronto. Over the next five years, he demonstrated a passion and talent for guiding and supporting advisors throughout their careers. After serving two years as a Financial Advisor Development area leader, he was asked to lead Canadian Financial Advisor Support. A year later, his responsibilities expanded to include Canadian Offices in Transition.
From 2013 to 2015, David deepened his leadership skills by working in the firm’s St. Louis headquarters as Branch and Region Development’s Area 8 leader. He returned to Canada in December 2015 to lead Financial Advisor Talent Acquisition.
When he assumed the role of Country Leader for Canada in June 2018, David did so as an advocate of robust associate and branch development and strong proponent of furthering the firm’s vision of becoming first choice of the serious, long-term investor.
David, a native of St. Thomas, Ontario, graduated with honors from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, with a bachelor of commerce degree. He is also a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School's Securities Industry Institute and earned an MBA from Northwestern University-Kellogg School of Management.
David, his wife and their four children lead active lives and love to hike the trails around Southern Ontario and other parts of Canada when they travel. They also enjoy visiting their families who live in Eastern and Western Canada.
