Environmental Sustainability in Practice

Edward Jones headquarters building - Tempe, AZ

At our headquarters in St. Louis, Mo., and Tempe, Ariz., we are proud to be good environmental stewards. By incorporating best practices, we minimize the environmental impact of these buildings by using efficient materials, energy and development space. Our efforts include:

Building design

  • Building exteriors are constructed with long-lasting, natural and recyclable materials such as zinc, stone, terracotta and others.
  • Adaptively reused one of our office buildings, diverting many tons of waste from local landfills because the structure was improved instead of being demolished.

Lighting and systems

  • Motion-sensor lights to ensure fixtures are only on when rooms are occupied.
  • Overhead lighting levels are adjusted or turned off when daylight is sufficient.
  • Indirect-lighting fixtures are used in lieu of direct fixtures for more efficient light delivery.
  • Minimal decorative lighting is used.
  • Minimal lighting is left on overnight.
  • Mechanical systems minimize energy consumption.

Waste management

  • Waste management bins on every floor indicate landfill, recycling and compost waste.
  • Composting is available in all St. Louis home office break rooms, cafes and kitchens.
  • Compost that's collected in our buildings is processed offsite to become soil and mulch for gardening.
  • Composting is available in Tempe home office café kitchens.
