Mario D. DeRose, CFA
Fixed Income Strategist

Mario D. DeRose began his career at Edward Jones as a trader in the Corporate Bond Department in 1983 and became a limited partner in 1986. During his tenure in the corporate bond area, he was involved with marketing and trading a range of taxable bond products and was named senior product specialist. After eight years, he moved to the Product Review Department as a senior analyst responsible for analyzing, approving and monitoring securities for the real estate and financial-services industries, as well as government agencies, collateralized mortgage obligations, derivative products, municipal housing and higher education bonds.

In 1996, DeRose assumed the position of fixed income strategist. In this role, he monitors economic trends and tracks taxable and tax-free fixed-income markets in order to identify and communicate fixed-income opportunities, as well as to inform and educate the financial advisors about fixed-income issues. He also is responsible for preferred stock and closed-end fund research. DeRose has been quoted in such major publications as The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Investor’s Business Daily, USA Today and U.S. News & World Report, and has appeared on CNBC and CNN.

DeRose earned a bachelor’s degree in personnel management and business administration from the University of Wisconsin and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Missouri. He earned his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1994 and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts, as well as the Association for Investment Management and Research.
