Edward Jones Ranked Second Best Company to Work For in UK
Financial services company Edward Jones has once again secured the number two spot in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work for 2009 list in the mid-size company category, which surveyed the views of more than 200,000 employees from 997 firms across the country.
It had top scores in 15 of the categories including those looking at experience gained in the workplace, effective training for employees, and feeling proud to work for the company.
It was the highest ranking financial services company with only three others making the top 100, ranked at 16, 18 and 43.
There was more good news as Tim Kirley; Edward Jones UK Principal was named the UK’s most trusted leader. Just over 90 per cent of Edward Jones’ associates said they had faith in his leadership and agreed that Mr Kirley ran the company on sound moral principles - giving him the highest approval rating of any boss in the survey.
The news comes as Edward Jones commits to rapidly expand its UK workforce pledging to recruit an average of 38 new advisers a month to add to the existing 350.
Edward Jones operates a unique business model. Each of its offices has a single stockbroker and financial adviser supported by a dedicated, full-time assistant. The company advocates a conservative investment philosophy, based on owning a diversified portfolio of high-quality investments for the long term, which it believes has stood the test of time.
"Our associates are our source of success,” said Tim Kirley. "Even during these difficult economic conditions, they continue to demonstrate the values that make Edward Jones such a great place to work."
"Being ranked 2nd on the Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For list is a recognition of their effort, motivation and the culture of respect and caring they create. We all remain committed to delivering excellent service to clients during these turbulent times."
"It is an honour to receive an accolade for leadership, especially as it is based solely on the feedback from Edward Jones associates."
Added Jim Weddle Edward Jones Managing Partner, "We are especially pleased that country leader Tim Kirley earned special recognition. In 11 years he has built an impressive presence in the UK based upon the principle of always putting the needs of our clients first."
To be eligible for a ranking in the Best Companies to Work For Awards, a company must be at least five years old and employ at least 50 people.
Ninety per cent of the ranking is based on how randomly selected members of staff answer a series of carefully structured questions asked by Best Companies. Edward Jones also completed a company survey that sought information on firm policies, processes, services and facilities.
