Locked-In Plans
Locked-in retirement plans are generated upon the rollover of a Registered Pension Plan (RPP). RPPs are plans where funds are set aside by an employer, an employee, or both parties to provide a pension when the employee retires or terminates their employment.
Funds from a RPP are transferred into a specific type of locked-in plan, depending on a variety of factors. The different types of locked-in plan include:
Life Income Fund (LIF)
Locked-In Retirement Account (LIRA)
Locked-In Retirement Income Fund (LRIF)
