Diversity, equity and inclusion at Edward Jones: Being a firm for all is our legacy and our future

At Edward Jones, our goal is to be a place where every colleague feels valued, respected, seen and heard.

What does diversity, equity and inclusion look like at Edward Jones? Rooted in our purpose, we seek to make a positive impact on as many lives as possible by supporting individuality and celebrating differences.

Our better together approach applies not just to our diversity, equity and inclusion work, but to the client and colleague experiences we strive to create as well. We learn from and with each other through the trusted personal relationships we build each day. That's what helps us deliver our vision for ONE Edward Jones.

It means, no matter who you are or what your circumstance is, you can see yourself here — and thrive. It has real-world implications for our organization — and the diversity of experience, talent and perspectives it embodies.

You see, DEI isn't new for us. Long before diversity, equity and inclusion were ubiquitous terms in our society, these concepts were embedded in our business model and in our core values: our clients’ interests come first, we value working in partnership, and we value and respect individuals and their contributions.

Our firm was built on Ted Jones’ insight that there was an innovative opportunity to serve underserved markets, which at the time was rural communities. To continue Ted’s legacy, we are building a firm that positively impacts the lives of people across communities and demographics – which has fueled the creation of branch offices covering more than 68% of U.S. counties and currently serving a rich mosaic of more than 8 million clients.

Our work plays an important role in fostering financial inclusion and helping people who haven’t previously been engaged by our firm, whether having been previously excluded from the industry or being served by another firm.

To better serve a future in which our clients and talent will be more diverse than ever, we understand that our continued success depends on our ongoing efforts to make Edward Jones a place of belonging where everyone feels seen, heard, respected, valued and understood. Different perspectives make for better business, and Edward Jones is truly for all — regardless of background or demographics.

Anchored by our purpose – to partner for positive impact to improve the lives of our clients and colleagues and, together, better our communities and society – highlights of our diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives include:

  • Programs like our immersive DEI 365 events, Belonging in Action discussions, and annual Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Conference help our colleagues share their authentic stories and exhibit more empathy and compassion toward our clients and colleagues during challenging times.
  • Our 12 Business Resource Groups offer opportunities all year long that elevate the lived experiences of different cultures and backgrounds to help us be better prepared to meet the changing world around us.
  • Our Accountability Scorecard ensures we have the systems and processes in place to drive equitable progress toward more inclusive experiences and cross-cultural understanding.
  • We've set ambitious representation goals to increase the number of people of color and women among leadership and financial advisors in the U.S. and Canada by the end of 2025:
    • 20% people of color and gender parity among leaders in our U.S. and Canada headquarters
    • 15% people of color and 40% women among U.S. and Canadian home office general partners
    • 15% people of color and 30% women among U.S. and Canadian financial advisors
  • Our leaders are actively attracting and retaining the very best talent inclusive of different perspectives, experiences and backgrounds to better meet each client's individual needs and can serve tens of millions more clients in ways that are meaningful to them.

Edward Jones continues to view diversity, equity and inclusion as a business imperative and we remain committed and are transparent that we have more we want to do. Building a legacy is not just about leaving a mark, but about shaping a foundation for those who will come after us.
